How the Lorain Digital Academy Works

Each student with their parent or guardian attends a 6 hour computer training session where they learn how to work the computer equipment, communicate with teachers and receive information on live on-line tutoring. After the six hour session, the student receives:

Computer with Keyboard and mouse
Scanner
Printer (Elementary & Special ED only)
Free Internet Connection
The student must demonstrate proficiency in the use of the computer by completing an introductory course called IGo. After the successful completion of the IGo course, the students are released to their subject areas.

Each course or subject area is set up into 12 Blocks. Each block should take 15 days to complete. There are 15 assignments in each block. When all 12 Blocks are completed in that subject area, the student is given credit for mastering that course.
The Lorain Digital Academy is a continuous progress program. If a students fails to complete all 12 blocks in a school year, they do not restart the year but start in the block where they left off from the previous year.

If a student were to finish all 12 blocks before the end of the year, they may start a new course.
